Rhinebeck Project Ideas

Many of us soon will be heading to Rhinebeck,
the NY State Sheep & Wool Festival.
Having a Rhinebeck project in your bag is a must.
Here are some of my ideas to make it a fun trip.
Lori is one of our favorite designers, and her latest is a simple and elegant choice. Knit it with 2 semi solids in Breathless, Madelinetosh Twist Light, or Happy Feet.
A cropped top for fall- knit it in super soft Aireado or Tuscan Aire- both warm yet light as a feather.
FREE Pattern.
Use 2 fingering weight yarns held together, or a lightweight blend such as Trendsetter’s Icon. Could be a great 3 season top. FREE Pattern.
Liminal Shawl by Andrea Mowry
Andrea’s designs rule in October- just in time for Rhinebeck. Knit in a DK such as DK Merino Superwash for bounce, or Nuna for lightness.

Denim DK

100% Cotton- 218 yards/100g ball
Lots of denim colorways to choose from.
A beautiful textured shawl – pattern written for Denim DK.
With just one ball of Denim DK, knit up this pretty eyelet cowl- so soft against your neck in all cotton.
FREE Pattern.

Fun Fall Kits

A very special kit to make a pumpkin hat & matching booties. Kit contains Calico- a cotton/ acrylic blend that is soft, colorful, and washer & dryer friendly.
Pattern written in several sizes and shown here on Baby Thea last fall.
Our Pumpkin cloth can be a washcloth, a hotpad or a potholder. Knit it in Fantasy Naturale.
Knit a fast rolled brim hat with our Candy Corn Hat Kit. Each kit contains enough Encore Mega to knit up the toddler, child, or adult size.
Baby Owl Hat Kits
These hat kits are available in 2 colorways- taupe and grey.
Each kit contains enough Encore Chunky to make either size: 6-12 months or 18-24 months.
Our large hotpad/potholder kit contains Fantasy Naturale. This project is knit with short row shaping. You will love it!!

Upcoming Classes

Warping Lab with Lynn
Tuesday Oct 15 | 3:15 – 6:15pm
Ready to take the next step in your rigid heddle experience? Join us for a “Warping Lab” . You will plan and warp your own project. Weavers must have some experience with direct warping as this is not a “teaching how to warp” class. However, guidance will be available to assist and answer questions. Students will then complete their work at their own pace. Loom rental available for a fee of $10.00.
Class fee: $35.00.
Project materials are additional. Please call to register.
Beginner Brioche
Monday Oct 14 | 1-3pm with JoAnne
Back by popular demand! Learn to Brioche by Knitting an easy 2 color cowl in a chunky weight yarn. I strongly suggest Chunky Merino Superwash, but Encore Chunky will also work. You will also need a 24-26″ circular size 10.5, and a stitch marker. Please call to sign up.
Lets Play with Beads
Tuesday & Thursday evenings
6:30 – 8:30pm with Maggie
Join Maggie to try your first foray into the beading world!
Ironish starts at the tip of the right wing and works across to the tip of the left wing. The right wing has increases to get to the rectangular lace section, and the left wing uses decreases to bring your stitch count back down again.
Ironish plays with texture, an optional beaded edging and two colors of fingering weight yarn. Do we ever have a lot of fingering weight yarns- so your choices will be endless!
Please call to sign up. Other project ideas welcome as well such as
Knit Night shown here with beads.
For a great bead selection- we suggest Owl Be Beading!– our favorite local beading shop.
