This Week at
The Knitter's Edge

Well the Holiday is upon us. We should all be finishing up those last projects. We at The Knitter's Edge will be here all this week to help you finish things, or pick out that special gift for the knitter in your life. We have a couple of new ideas for this week- last minute specials to help you out.

We will be closed on Christmas Day and New Year's Day. We will be open all of our regular hours other than those 2 Saturdays.  This means we will be open on Christmas Eve- 9:30 - 4:00 with  regular classes available.  Please come join us.

Winners in Our Mitten Tree Contest

On Saturday, we closed the Mitten Tree Project.  We received 116 pairs of hand knit & crocheted mittens.  We also were given many pairs of store bought mittens, which are very much appreciated as well.  All will be going to a Bethlehem elementary school this week for distribution.

We were quite surprised and very pleased at the number of mittens we received.  116 pair!!!  Thats a lot of mittens!!
I know the children will be happy with their gift and their hands will be warm and dry.

Thank you all for your hard work.  I hope you learned something along the way- knitting mittens can be fun.

We will be accepting more mittens for the kids through January, so if you need a pattern- just ask.

And now for the winners!
Lady BugMost Adorable Mittens: Amy Gromes used both her knit and crochet skills to work up these cute lady bugs.  The mitten is knit, and the spots are crochet.

JaneBest Knit Mittens:  Jane Harter is the perfect knitter- with her excellent knitting skills, Jane work is always of the highest quality. These striped mittens are no exception.
DianeWackiest Mittens:  I am not sure how Diane Petro came up with these, but they are fasinating- you can put on a puppet show with your mittens!  I am sure some child will really love these.
FishMost Original MIttens:  Maria Myles is a teacher who designed these mittens in her school's colors.  She brought together concepts learned from several projects to produce these original fish mittens.  Nice job!
best mittensAnd our top prize goes to Helen Lunde for Best in Show! These mittens had a wonderful story to go with them.  Helen's Mother- a very artistic woman of Scandinavian descent- taught her to knit by handing her a handknit mitten and telling her to copy it to produce a new pair.  No pattern needed- just the knitted piece to follow.  Now that is talent!
Our congratulations and thanks to all of our winners and all of our knitters.  This was a job well done.  Prizes are available for pick up at the shop.
You can still get this done...

Yes its getting close to Christmas- but we are still coming up with new ideas.   Here is one quick project that you can get done before the Holiday.
With just one hank of 24K you can knit up a bunch of sparkley bracelets.  The one shown here is the smaller size.  Stop by to try them on!  My thanks to Diana for designing and knitting these up.
