This Week at
The Knitter's Edge

Join us this month for a mitten making class.

Make a pair or two for some children in need of warm hands during recess.

Welcome to Mitten Month!

 November is Mitten Month

mitten imageThis month we are starting a new project- making mittens.  So many people have told me that they have never knit or crocheted a pair of mittens.  Well, all of that is about to change.  Each week in November we will introduce you to a different method of knitting mittens, with at least one pair of crocheted ones as well.

Mitten treeOur ultimate goal is to make enough mittens to cover a mitten tree in December- with all mittens then going to a Bethlehem elementary school in need.  Children want and need to go out to play at recess and if their hands get cold, its not much fun.  By providing mittens for these kids, we will be doing a good thing, and making some children very happy.

Please join us in this effort, and knit a pair of mittens (kids sizes only) for our future tree.  Each week we will have a new free pattern, and often a yarn on sale to aid your efforts.

mitten in the round
Last week we started with a mitten knitted flat. We will be finishing that mitten this week.  For next week, I offer the mitten seen here- looks the same- but this one is knitted in the round.  Either mitten should be knit out of Encore Worsted or Comfort- 2 machine washable and dryable worsted weight yarns.  Both are very reasonably priced as well. This pattern is ready, and available at the shop.

This Wednesday afternoon 4:00 - 6:00 and Saturday morning 10-12 we will once again be teaching how to knit up these mittens- please join us!

Oh- we will also make this a fun project by making it into a contest.
Prizes will be awarded in mid December for:
1.  The best made mittens
2.  The most creative mittens
3.  Most colorful mittens
4.  Grand prize for best overall mittens.

Mittens must be for kids- sizes 5-10 (elementary school). Machine washable - please. Knit or crocheted in a yarn you purchased at The Knitter's Edge  (other mittens will be accepted as well, but will not be eligable for prizes).

There will be classes each week featuring mittens- beginner ones through expert designs.  Make them for yourself or others as well.

General Knitting with Linda Miller
Tuesdays & Thursdays 6:30 - 8:30 PM

Yes I know it looks like red/white/green yarn, but each hank contains 2 -50g hanks- one green/white, one red/white.

Holiday Sock yarn
Linda knit up these Holiday socks as  fraternal twins.  But the most interesting thing is that the yarn  came as part red/white, part green/white. If you look closely you can see that Linda even added a design of candy canes all along the cuff.  Very nice work with Holiday Sock yarn.

WOW!  Look whats still in the Pool!

SOCKOTTA and BUNGEE sock yarns are once again on sale $5.00 each this week  One ball makes a pair of socks. The pool is FULL as more Bungee has just been added.

SockottaSockotta is a wool/cotton/nylon blend that works up great into light weight socks as well as baby sweaters, and scarves.  This is a fingering weight yarn.  One- 100g ball will make a pair of socks.

BungeeBungee is a merino/ nylon blend with a bit of elastic.  It makes awesome soft socks. Only one ball of this DK weight yarn is enough to knit up a pair of socks.  Also makes great hats- due to the stretchy nature of this yarn.  This yarn comes in several solid shades as well as variegated colorways.

Patterns available for either yarn.
