This Week at
The Knitter's Edge
This week represents the 10 week mark until Christmas.   (That means there are only 10 weeks until Christmas- yikes!).
We hope you are all working on holiday knitting- at least some of the time.  If you need ideas- we got them!  Stop by or come in and stay a while- we will help you plan some gift ideas.

How about joining Eileen and I on Wednesday afternoons- 4:00 - 6:00 PM to work on Holiday Knitting and sharing gift ideas?
We Proudly Present

We are now a very proud vendor of the Rowan family of fine yarns.
Colorscape Chunky

In todays newsletter I present you Rowan Colorscape Chunky- one of the new Rowan yarns we carry.Colorscape is a 100% lambswool slightly felted one ply known for its colorways.  Colors were designed by Kaffe Fassett- the King of colorwork.  Here he has designed a yarn that will deliver amazing colors without having to do a lot of Intarsia work.

Valour VestTry this fashionable slightly asymmetric vest called Valour.  We have the vest at the shop- and someone is always trying it on.  The  colors seem to drift from one to the next creating soft, elegant striping.
Please stop by to see what else we have in Rowan.  They are absolutely beautiful yarns and their pattern books are above all others.

Another New Yarn

Manos Silk BlendWe have just started carrying Manos yarns.   Their Silk Blend is a one ply roving blend of ultra soft merino wool with quality silk for a soft drape.
Ruffled manos ScarfThe new Manos Silk Blend is the perfect canvas for this simple yet elegant scarf.  With just a hint of ruffling along the lower edges- it is as much fun to knit as it is to wear.
Moebius Cast On Class to be held again!

This past week we held a new class on the moebius cast on.  It was a huge success.  We are now scheduling a second class on this technique to be held Thursday, Oct. 21 --6:30 -8:30 PM. We learned from the first class that we need to restrict this class to intermediate knitters and above.  Also, all class participants need to arrive early enough to get their yarn wound before class starts.  The entire 2 hour session is needed to teach this technique.  All those who attended last week said it was definitely a good class.  This next class will be limited to 10 people.  Sign up soon.

Debra has designed a moebius ribbed cowl exclusively for this class. The Cowl is long enough to be worn around the shoulders, the neck, or pulled up  around the head. This last way is definitely how it looks best. Stop by the shop this week to try on the cowl and see how versatile it is.

Sign up for Debra's next class soon as space will be limited.
NOTE:  Bring size 10 - 40" long needles if you already have them or if you have an interchangable set.  We have many in stock as well.
Join Debra Thursday, October 21 from 6:30 - 8:30 PM to learn the Cat Bordhi Moebius Cast on while making this great Cowl.

ALSO:  Follow-up class for those in need of help finishing the Mobius from Class session one.- Date:  Tuesday evening Oct 19- 6:30 - 8:30 PM.

MoebiusThe Araucania Panguipulli is our yarn of choice for this project.  Other yarns can be substituted, but you will need the 40" length on the needle.  The Moebius is created by looping the needle twice around, so a long cable length is necessary.  You will love the Panguipulli- its a self striping ultra soft merino.
Moebius Wrap
Loretta is shown here wearing another Moebius that Debra knit for this class.  This one is a shoulder wrap as well.  It can be worked on the same needles as the Panguipulli Shawl.

Countdown to Christmas

Stop in to see our Advent style calendar for our countdown. Each week a new pattern will be presented free for a new gift idea.

Countdown to Christmas!

Marble Chunky Top Down Baby Sweater

Marble baby SweateMarble Chunky is a terrific yarn we brought into the shop primarily for Prayer shawls. Two of these 200g balls makes up a very large shawl. But this yarn is far too nice for just shawls, so we knit up this baby/toddler sweater which can be done with just one ball of Marble Chunky. Stop by to get your free pattern with the purchase of just one ball of this washable /dryable chunky weight yarn.
