This Week at
The Knitter's Edge

The boxes full of yarn are starting to disappear and the shelves are becoming packed!  We have some great new yarns to entice you for fall knitting.  Each week I will feature one or two of the new yarns- hopefully with some great pattern ideas.

We still need to make more room for new stuff so we are still keeping some of the yarns on sale through the end of the month.  Come get some great bargains.

So what's on sale this week???

Since we still need to make room for new yarns, we have moved several closeouts to buckets- center store floor.  Very special low prices are available on these yarns, such as:

Jelli BeenzJelli Beenz: at $3.00 each.  With 1-2 balls of this kid friendly yarn you can knit a pair of socks, 2 balls makes a hat.  The yarn, which is a member of the Encore Family of fine yarns is worsted weight and works up with any Encore pattern (of which there are many).

So come in and pick up a few balls of Jelli Beenz and get some free patterns for some kids' projects.

Big SOftieBig Softie: 3 balls and less than 1 hour makes this superfast scarf.  Yarn now available at $3.00 a ball.  Free pattern available at the shop.

New yarns!

 FLOUNCE
Flounce BoaThis is a new yarn and a new scarf idea for this holiday season.  We will quickly teach you  how to work with it and you will be off knitting up your own boa scarf.  It is very easy to do- even our kids class is getting into the act.  This would make a terrific Teacher's gift this Christmas- knit by your child for her teacher!

Flounce
Here are just a few of the colors we have in stock.  You can make a boa scarf out of either 1 ball or 2 balls.  We have both in the shop for you to look at.  Bring a pair of needles- anything from 8 - 10.5 and we will show you how to work this up in just a few minutes.  Stop by anytime for a lesson- if we are busy, you may have to wait a few minutes- but it will be worth the wait.

MOCHI CHUNKY
mochi chunky ball

We have loved Mini Mochi, and Mochi Plus.  Now we welcome
Mochi Chunky! This family of yarns are very soft rovings with
changing colors that will amaze you.  Each colorway is more beautiful than the last.

mochi chunky mittsHere is a free pattern for Mochi Chunky fingerless mitts which will work up in no time.  DId you know that fingerless mitts are by far the fastest way to learn to work with double pointed needles?

Materials: 1 ball, 50g Crystal Palace Chunky Mochi

#8 double pointed needles
Gauge: 12 sts = 4 inches in stockinette stitch.

Directions:
Divide ball of yarn in half.
Cast on 28 st with #8 double pointed needles.
Join and work 4 rounds in K2, P2 rib.
Change to working in rows of K2, P2 rib to make "thumb slash".
Work 6 rows of K2, P2 rib.
Change back to working in rounds, and work in K2, P2 rib until you have just enough yarn to bind off.
Bind off.

Repeat to make your "fraternal twin" mini-mitt.

Special Class next Tuesday!

Tomorrow!  Tuesday evening, Lisa will not be able to join us for crochet class at 6:30, and, as you all know, I don't like to see a classroom go empty,  so...
I am going to move my washcloth on the couch class into the BIG classroom for the evening.
Now I figured I had better have one dy-no-mite project idea to pull in so many people, and I think I may have come up with one:

Flounder

Meet Flounder.  If you loved the Tawashi Fish that we did months ago- you will love Flounder.  He is a larger, 2 sided Tawashi Fish- perfect to use as a bath mitt, or stick a bar of soap in him and lather up.  I have one knit up- only have the eyes yet to do.

So please come Tuesday night- 6:30 - 8:30.  Bring some odds & ends in Fantasy Naturale if you have them, to make Flounder more colorful; and bring size 8 needles.  I will provide everything else.   No need to sign up- even if we have 20+ people- we have both the couch area and the largest classroom- we will all have fun!
Countdown to Christmas

Stop in to see our Advent style calendar for our countdown. Each week a new pattern will be presented free for a new gift idea.
