What's New?
We are into Kits lately- we shared Joe the Penquin with everyone- now we have 2 more to share.

We have 2 new items at the shop- thanks to Rebecca,  we are building a minature menagerie.  Our Baby Gator and our new Andy the Sheep are both small knitted projects that have been kitted for purchase.

Nightime Crochet to continue!
 I am very happy to announce that Crochet classes on Tuesday nights will continue!
We have a new crochet teacher- Lisa who will keep things going.  Lisa has been attending the past couple of crochet classes to watch what has been going on and is ready to proceed.  She is energetic with many great ideas for crochet projects. 
Note:  The hat Lisa is wearing is Week 21's feather & fan hat from The Countdown to Christmas projects. 

crochet bagsBesides Joe the Penquin (seen below), Lisa has 2 new small bags to crochet.  Please join Lisa this  Tuesday- August 3 -- 6:30- 8:30 for her first class!

Also, Pat is now doing a daytime class on Wednesdays from 10:00-12:00. All level of crochetters are welcome. 

PenquinHere is a simple beginner's project Lisa will be doing- on Tuesday night, and Pat on Wednesday morning.  He is a cute little guy crocheted with worsted weight yarn. 
Joe Penguin Kits are assembled and are available for sale.
Other simple crochet projects will appear each week. 
Countdown to Christmas
Countdown to Christmas! 
If we all do just one project a week, we will have 20 or so gifts ready to go by the holidays.  Last year we all started too late, so this year we are getting going earlier.
This week is Week 20 and I am offering a new yarn to go with the new project.  
We recently received  a glorious assortment of Artyarns exquisite Beaded Mohair & Sequins.  We have about a dozen colorway selections for you to try.  With just 1 hank, you can quickly knit up this lovely little scarf that Steph worked up for you to try:
Pattern by Steph Boozer

Beaded mohair scarf 
Size:  One Size

Materials: 1 hank Artyarns Beaded Mohair & Sequins

Needles: 24" circular size 10

Gauge: not critical; about 3 sts = 1"

Loosely cast on 3 sts

Row 1:  K1, yo, k1, yo , k1.

Row 2:  K1, p3, k1.

Row 3:  K1, yo, k1, yo, place marker, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1.

Row 4:  K1, purl to last st, k1.

Row 5:  K1, yo, knit to marker, slip marker, yo, k1, yo, knit to last st, yo, k1.

Row 6:  K1, purl to last st, k1.
Repeat Rows 5 & 6 until almost out of yarn. End after working a row 6.
Next Row: K1, yo, *(k2tog, yo); repeat from * to marker, k1, yo, k1, yo, k1, **(yo, k2tog); repeat from ** to last st, yo, k1.

Repeat row 6.

Bind off loosely knitwise.  Weave in all ends.  Block out.

Remember the snow family we did last winter?  It might have been a bit close to Christmas to get them done- so this year we are starting early.  Join Lynn next week on a Thursday evening to get these people knitted up.  All materials available at the shop.  Call for more details and to sign up.

Milly is Back For Lace!!! 
Lace sampler Next Tuesday Milly will be back with us to teach more lacework, and reading of lace charts.  This time she is working on a sampler scarf.  5 separate lace stitch patterns make up this long lace weight beauty. (Photo shown here is NOT the actual scarf).  I will have a photo by the weekend, but if you want to try lace, learn to read lace charts, or just knit up a beautiful project- join Milly next Tuesday to get started. 
Follow up classes will be scheduled.

Washcloths on the Couch with JoAnne
waffles anyoneThis is the washcloth for this week's class.  It is an easy one as we have been doing some toughies for a couple of weeks now.  We deserve a break!

You might want to bring a small amount of a contrasting color to make stripes as shown in these samples.  You can also knit it all in one color. Bring size 7 needles.  

NOTE:  This washcloth will also be available on Thursday morning.

Eileen's Saturday afternoon Sock class is a Christmas in July stocking class this month.  Bring size 6 DPNS, or 2 circulars.
Use the 2 handed Fair Isle techniques you learned for Linda Miller to speed up your Fair Isle work! There is still time to make your own Christmas stocking.
ANNOUNCEMENT: This stocking project has been so well received that Eileen has expanded it to be available in any of her classes. We have the yarn and the pattern- just bring the needles.

 Steph is once again teaching this Fair Isle Tam Class- Knit in Cleckheaton Country 8 Ply- this hat never uses more than 2 colors in a row.  With a great sale price on this yarn- you can knit this beauty at a very good price with some wonderful yarn.

 This shawl was knit out of one hank of the Egyptian Cotton from Blue Herron.  An easy to knit design and my goodness how lovely.  Plenty of yarn in that 1000 yard skein to make it plenty big.

 Baby Surprise finished
This is the yarn I am using for the EZ Baby Surprise Jacket.  I also have a couple of other patterns available for Pedicure socks and a baby cardigan. 
This yarn is a 50/50 blend of wool and cotton that feels like ultra soft pima cotton.  The colors knit up into really cool stripes- great for small projects where the striping can be at its best- wonderful socks, hats, baby items.
Duo Plus baby socks
