Crochet is A-coming!

 I crochet

At the recent TNNA show Amanda and I noticed the huge upsurgence in crochet.   Some of the stuff is absolutely beautiful!  So we figured we had better get some crochet classes going.  What we need is beginning crochet- so many of us need to learn the basics.  Pat has offered to teach a  beginning crochet class on Tuesday night, July 6 from 6:30 - 8:30.

In just one session you will learn how to chain, single crochet and double crochet.  That's enough to give you the skills to really make something, and we will have beginner patterns available.  Amanda has been learning from Pat and made 2 pairs of fingerless gloves while at TNNA.  They came out very nice.  Washcloths are also great beginner crochet projects so you know where I will be...

Call to sign up- class will be limited to 12 students.  This is just ONE class, and you will learn alot!

New Entrelac Shawl with Pat
Entrelac shawlPat  is taking on another new project this month- an entrelac triangular shawl called Dianna.  She is knitting her shawl with Ty-Dy Sock and so far the colors are working out very well- with each color run in the yarn working up about 2 blocks of the entrelac so the colors are looking like an ever changing display of diamonds.  The leaf motif in each block adds a wonderful lace detail.

This is Pat's actual shawl; knit with just one ball of Ty-Dy sock yarn.

    soap sock
We will have another session of the Friends of Jan Chicka on the Couch Washcloth class.  Last week we knit coasters that worked up quickly.  They are cute as can be.  This week we will be knitting Soap Socks out of Mission Falls cotton.  This yarn has a texture to it which will make a great cloth or sack for sock.
Please bring size 7 double pointed needles and a bar of soap!!!  This class will be repeated on Thursday morning.

Marilyn's Summer Schedule

NOTE:  Last week- Saturday, June 12 Marilyn held her Saturday kid's class- next Saturday afternoon class will be June 26.

square needles
Marilyn will be teaching several classes each week with us this summer.  An additional kid's class will be held every Wednesday morning 10:00 - 12:00 (starting June 23).  This class time is a very nice one as any mothers who wish to knit can attend Pat's class held at the same time.
In the first daytime kids class Marilyn will be having the kids make their own needles- from chopsticks!!

Marilyn will still be holding her Thursday evening Kids class from 6:30 - 8:30 every Thursday and her every other Saturday afternoon class- 1:00 - 3:00 beginning this Saturday, June 12.

Marilyn's Hobby HorseA big addition for us which has all of us excited is that Marilyn will be teaching an adult class each week as well!  This will begin Thursday, June 24 from 2:00 - 4:00 (note the time).  Her first project will be an  American Girl Doll Sweater.  She also has some other ideas up her sleeve like this felted Hobby Horse.  Can't wait to see him once he is felted and attached to a stick!
