My First Lace Chart Class
Milly's first class with us was held on Thursday morning- it was fabulous!  Everyone loved her- great personality and great teaching ability.  Everyone learned a lot about lace structure, and got started on their own scarf.
If you missed the first class, the same session will be held this Tuesday evening from 6:30 - 8:30.  There are still openings in this class, but call soon.    Part 2 of these classes will be next Thursday morning 10:00 - 12:00 and Tuesday,  June 15-- 6:30 - 8:30.
The new My First Lace Chart Classes with our new teacher Milly will be held on Thursday mornings June 3, and 10, and on Tuesday evenings June 8, and 15.
Milly's scarf
Bring paper and pen to take notes and size 8 needles- straight ones are fine.  You will need 2 balls of yarn- either Pure Pima by Berocco or Somerset by Plymouth.  We have both yarns in a wide range of colors.
We have information available at the shop on the Afghan Challenge.  Come in and pick up a sheet.  I will soon be holding additional class sessions on designing your own square.
The Challenge is for each shop to knit 20 afghan squares out of Encore Worsted- each a 12" square.  These 20 best squares will be judged on their creativity, beauty, etc.  Then, 20 overall winners will be chosen from the 40 squares provided by the 2 shops.  The shop that has the most "winning squares" will receive a pizza party provided by the losing shop.  All squares will be sewn into afghans to be auctioned off for charity.  Our charity of choice is Turning Point.    All squares must be knit out of Encore Worsted- fall palette colors.  Each will take less than 1 ball of yarn.  All entries must be in by July 17.
Highlights of upcoming classes and projects
Saturday June 12  1:00 - 3:00 PM
June Sock with Eileen
 Eileen's June Sock
Eileen started her June sock last week.    Her sock will get you ready for the big holiday in July.  The yarn is self striping- red, white, and blue colors.  She also has a little girl's sock in the works for everyone.
Saturday June 12  1:00 - 3:00 PM
 June Sock with Pat
Lotus SockPat is working on her new June Sock with her Saturday sock class.  This sock is called Lotus from the Joy of Socks book.  It looks like an easy yet interesting sock with scallops and fans.  It will work up nicely in any sock weight yarn- solid, semisolid, or handpaint.
Wednesdays 1:00 - 3:00 PM
New Entrelac Shawl with Pat
Entrelac shawlPat  is taking on another new project this month- an entrelac triangular shawl called Dianna.  She is knitting her shawl with Ty-Dy Sock and so far the colors are working out very well- with each color run in the yarn working up about 2 blocks of the entrelac so the colors are looking like an ever changing display of diamonds.  The leaf motif in each block adds a wonderful lace detail.

Thursdays 6:30-8:30 PM
Happy faceJoin Diana this Thursday evening for some great knitting.  She has been off taking care of her puppy and is now itching to get back to some fun projects.  Stop in to see what she has in mind.

Friday 10:00 - 12:00 PM
Steph's new Felted French Slippers
Steph has knit and felted these slippers for herself and now she would like to help all of you do the same.  They are not at all difficult- working up quickly. Join Steph in either class session to make these for yourself or for someone as a great gift.
Tuesday, June 22  4:00 - 6:00, and 6:30 - 8:30 PM
2 Handed Fair Isle Class with Linda Miller
fair isle hat
It has been awhile since we have held this class.  It has continually been a huge hit.  Over 4 hours, you will learn to work Fair Isle with 2 hands.  Mastering the technique will open many doors for you in the Fair Isle world of knitting.
There is homework- you must get your hat started so that the entire 4 hours can be used learning the technique, and working the actual Fair Isle portion.
Stop in to sign up and pick up your yarn and your homewrk.  This class usually fills up so call soon to reserve your spot.  Class limited to 10 students
Tuesday 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Washcloth with JoAnne
  yarn over
Join me tonight for a nice washcloth.  This cloth contains yarn overs and a cross over pattern.  I knit mine in Sweet Caroline - the yarn you will use tonight for a soft pretty cloth.
Bring size 7 needles.
Eileen's Scarf

Last week we featured  a spiral scarf knit in Lyndon Hill.  Eileen took the pattern and knit it in Berocco Sock - with a bit of Glitz!  One ball makes 2 scarves- and the glitter look will be a fashionable way to move into the fall.
Marilyn's Summer Schedule

NOTE:  This week- Saturday, June 12 Marilyn will hold her afternoon class.  She has to flip Saturdays - so starting this Saturday June 12 she will be here every other Saturday (12, 26, July 10, etc)
Marilyn will be teaching several classes each week with us this summer.  An additional kid's class will be held every Wednesday morning 10:00 - 12:00.  This class time is a very nice one as any mothers who wish to knit can attend Pat's class held at the same time.  Marilyn will still be holding her Thursday evening Kids class from 6:30 - 8:30 every Thursday and her every other Saturday afternoon class- 1:00 - 3:00 beginning this Saturday, June 12.
Marilyn's Hobby HorseA big addition for us which has all of us excited is that Marilyn will be teaching an adult class each week as well!  This will begin Thursday, June 24 from 2:00 - 4:00 (note the time).  Her first project will be an  American Girl Doll Sweater.  She also has some other ideas up her sleeve like this felted Hobby Horse.  Can't wait to see him once he is felted and attached to a stick!

Just a little gift to all of you- a coaster knit out of Fantasy Naturale.  1 hank makes several.  Summer is a good time to make these little condensation catchers.    This is a fun one as it uses short rowing.  Fast, easy, yet challenging.  You will want to knit several.
