This Week at
The Knitter's Edge
Boy, did we have a fun weekend!  Amanda, Emily and I went to NENA- the New England Wholesale Yarn Show.  This is a small show, but full of lots of new stuff.  So while I helped out at the Plymouth booth, Amanda and Emily walked the show- seeing new things, and buying new things.  It was a cash & carry show so we came back with a car full of stuff.
Too bad we didn't take the van!

Market Bags with JoAnne & Eileen
 Market bag
Next week on Thursday morning JoAnne & Eileen will be joining forces and classes (in 2 rooms) to all knit a Market bag with Fantasy Naturale.  There are 3 styles- all needing from 2-3 hanks of Fantasy Naturale.  All have open eyelet worked sides and either 1 or 2 straps,  3 choices for the bottom are provided.  We have samples knit in each style for you to see.  This is a project perfect for beginners, and interesting for experienced knitters.  Everyone needs a market bag for the spring and summer, so make one now.  They also make a perfect gift- for anytime of year.  Bring size 7 or 8- 16" circular needles and same sized double points (depending on which style you choose.  Also a 24" size 13 will be needed.  Specially priced yarn (and lots of it) will be available.  There should not be a shortage of seats with 2 classrooms available, but we have had so many interested knitters say they are going to do this bag so sign up now.  All those already on the Thursday morning class are already on the list.
This class will also be held on
Tuesday night- May 11 6:30 - 8:30 PM
Saturday 1:00 - 3:00 PM
New May Sock with Pat
  Changling Sock
Pat is starting a new sock class to go with the
new month that begins this weekend.
Using Zauerball striping sock yarn Pat has
knit up the Changling Socks from the
Enchanted Sole book.  The sock has an
elegant cable running up the front, but
the most eyecatching part is the color
changing of the yarn.  Join Pat this Saturday-
May 1 to start this sock.
Tuesdays & Thursdays
Diana's Class times
Felted EntreLac Purse
 Felted bag
Diana just finished this felted tote bag
worked in Noro Iro using the Entrelac
Technique.  Noro yarns are known for
their fabulous color changes and this
yarn doesn't disappoint.
Join Diana to learn this technique-
which is easier than it looks.
Tuesday & Thursday
6:30 - 8:30 PM
Lace Shawls with Linda M.
Linda Miller Is almost finished with the Nightsongs Shawl and will soon be starting a new one- called the Audrey Triple.
Audrey TripleBoth are lovely and can be knit with either fingering or Dk weight yarn.  She knit her Nightsongs shawl out of Rayon Metallic.  She has not decided what yarn to use for the Audrey Triple, but she is leaning toward a rayon/cotton blend DK weight yarn called Haze.  It has dancing colors that will swirl through the garment.  The rayon will provide a large amount of drape for a lovely flow.
REMEMBER- you can freely come to either of Linda's classes- Tuesday or Thursday.  So if one week the Tuesday works best- come then, and the next week- Thursday of it suits your schedule better.
Tuesday & Thursday
6:30 - 8:30 PM
Fair Isle Stocking with Linda M.
fair Isle StockingAlso during Linda Miller's Tuesday or Thursday classes you can try your hand at Fair Isle.  Many knitters have by now attended one of Linda's 2 Handed Fair Isle classes.  This Christmas stocking- Knit by Jenny- is an extension of this technique.
Thursdays 10:00-12:00 PM
Washcloths with JoAnne
Boku & Galway Hotpad
This week I offer a change for the washcloth class.  Using a washcloth pattern, we will knit a blend of wools together which we will later felt into a hotpad.  Everyone loved knitting the washcloths with this pattern, so I am sure they will love the hotpad.
The pair of yarns will knit up 2 hotpads.
More cool ideas for this class time coming!  See above for the Market bag class scheduled for the following week!
Thursdays 4:00 - 6:00 PM
Toys with Steph
devilish DragonWait until you see this one.  Steph is outdoing herself now.  This dragon is going to be an adorable addition to her toy collection which now includes mice, chipmonks, bunnies, and more.

Remember the Sheep mats?  They're back!
Cabin fever bookCabin Fever has a new book that targets the Tweens age group.  There has always been a shortage of patterns for this age group so this new book is greatly appreciated.  The larger sizes in this book are also perfect for petite adults.
Melody FIngering weight yarn by Jojoland.  We found some new colors.  This stuff makes the very best shawls
Our Quiet Day- The Retreat
The St. Francis Renewal Center on Bridle Path Road in Bethlehem has offered all of us a day for reflextion and relaxation on May 24 (a Monday).  This will officially be called:
A Retreat and Refresh Day for Charity Knitters and Crocheters
Please be sure to reserve that day on your calendars!  The only cost will be for lunch- $10.00 and I am told they put on a very nice lunch.  You are also welcome to bring a lunch along instead.
Our plans thus far are to hold 2 sessions: 10:00 - 12:00 and 1:00 - 3:00 with the lunch being from 12:00 - 1:00.  The morning session will be a knitting class- informal but a learning experience none the less.  We will learn a new technique that can be practiced and implimented during the afternoon.
The afternoon session will be more of a reflection time with some spiritual readings and discussions- while we knit and work on some group project.  All of the details have not been worked out completely yet, but we will pass along more info as we develop it!
For right now- please sign up  by emailing Laura Howell
This could be a very recharging experience.  Eileen and I plan on attending, and teaching, and we hope that everyone who helped us with our charity projects this year will join us as well.
The Ice Cube Tray is Still Here!
RAIN!  There is still some left so please come in soon.  Only $4.00 each!
Last week the pool was put away so that the ice cube tray could make a comeback.  We bring it out when we have a yarn on sale that would become tangled in the pool.  This week we have a very special yarn called Rain.
Rain is a beautiful drifting mohair yarn.  The long luxurious poofs of mohair extend about 1" from the center core.  Available in 8 magnificent colors.  82 yards in each ball.
2-3 balls make a lovely scarf.  For this week only, Rain is a yarn that sold for $10.00 a ball, but now we have it for only $4.00 a ball.  While it lasts.  We have all that exists so don't wait long- it might be all gone.
