This Week at
The Knitter's Edge

Dear Marian,

Ok,  I am officially sick and tired of snow!

Luckily, it looks like this one tonight will be easy on us.  Remember to call first if you have any question as to whether we are open.

Some Class News

Amanda has asked me to write some information regarding how our classes are set up.

We have 2 types of classes- General and Project.

In our general classes, you can pretty much work on whatever project you wish, and you will receive help with any problems you encounter.   These class sessions can be laid-back, socializing times, encouraging friendships, chit chat, and learning.  And believe me--you will learn!

Our project classes usually focus on a specific project or technique.  They are more education oriented, but are still flexible and full of laughter and friends.

Steph and I are working toward adding a third type of class- specific technique clinics which will be held every other Saturday afternoon.  These will be more involved lecture times concentrating on teaching through the use of swatches.  These classes will be held in our smallest classroom and will be limited to 8 students.  The first session will be held Feb 27, and will
titled: Sewing Up Seams.

 BIG NEWS!!!!!
Tuesdays- Beginning February 16
10:00 - 12:00 and 1:00 - 3:00 PM with Pat
Crochet for Crocheters and Knitters in the morning,
General Knitting in the afternoon

Starting this week, Pat Walker will be joining us on Tuesdays.  In the morning- 10:00 - 12:00 Pat will hold a class called Crochet for Crocheters and Knitters.  I think I will even take this class!  All knitters should know how to do some crochet- they should especially be able to work borders around their knitting.  Think of an afghan... You should know how to add that picot edging. Or that cute washcloth- can you add a single crochet border in a contrasting color?  Learn all of these things with Pat on Tuesday mornings.  And if you are a crocheter already- Pat will be able to take you far!!!

On Tuesday afternoons- 1:00 - 3:00 Pat will hold a general knitting class.

Our Tuesday classes are getting way too full- so adding an additional class session will allow for more personal teacher attention for each student.

Tuesday February 16

Baby Surprise Jacket
 Baby Surprise Jacket
This week- Linda will be back for this class- this sweater has been way too popular to end it now- so join up!

The Elizabeth Zimmermann Baby Surprise Jacket is listed in the top 5 most knitted designs, on Ravelry.  This project has indeed been a favorite for many years.  If you have never knit one- you need to.  Just garter stitch, but a lot of learning available here.  Works up wonderfully in our new self striping yarns.  Join Linda- who is a master on this design, having knitted several and instructed many.  Knitted on circular needles- probably size 5 for most.  Linda will continue this class for a few weeks to come- so join up now.

Free Help session on Wednesday afternoons

Starting last week- Steph began leading a session from 4:00 - 6:00 to provide for free (yes free!) help with projects.  With as busy as we have been- some days we just don't have enough time to give each and every one of you enough time to fix those small problems.  We hope that this Wednesday afternoon session will help.
