10,000 New Knitters!

On Saturday November 10!

On Saturday Nov 10 we are joining forces with yarn shops across the country to add 10,000 new knitters to our world.

How it Works:
24 new knitters (Newbies) will get their first taste of knitting while making a pair of fingerless mitts with a yarn and needle kit supplied by Skacel.
The 24 knitters (Sponsors) who bring these newbies to TKE will receive a Fingerless Mitt kit of their own provided by The Knitter’s Edge.
A class for the newbies will be held on Sat 11/10/18
1-3pm with our Beginner knitting teachers Becky and Julia.  Additional help will be provided by the Sponsors.  We will need their help most during cast on.
What you need to do:
Find a newbie who would like to learn to knit and call The Knitter’s Edge to sign up. Arrive before 1:00 on Saturday Nov 10 to get a seat in one of our classes. This is not a free class, but it is half price as the pair of knitters will pay as one.  The Sponsors will need to bring double pointed needles size 3 & 5 to work on their own FREE mitten kit.  Call soon as space and kits are limited.

Week 6– Galway Hat

The Seamans 1898 Hat–  FREE Pattern
The construction of this hat was inspired by one pictured in a magazine published around 1910 (so I’m not sure why its called 1898 hat). Knitting the headband part side to side provides a double layer of garter stitch to keep the ears warm.  The hat has plenty of depth so it can be pulled low on the forehead, and the earflaps will naturally cup around the ears to keep them warm.

You can also make just the headband part and add an
I- cord bind off.  Keep the ear mighty warm  For men or women.

an easy to knit comfy pullover from Andrea Mowry.
Knit it in Galway Worsted.

Build your own Ripple Blanket with Becky

This design-your-own ripple blanket will commence on Nov 7 during the crochet class.
Becky has come up with four basic ripple recipes, with instructions and examples for each. Each student should come to class with an idea of what yarn they would like to use and appropriate hook(s). In the first session, we would review the patterns (they are all easy) and hand out the instructions for swatches. After a week or two, each student should return with a swatch she likes and a target size for a blanket/afghan. We’d use the swatch to calculate yarn amounts and go from there. The project would be finished at their convenience.  Call to sign up.
