Fixing Mistakes
Knitting Mistakes are Part of the Process
I teach Fixing Mistakes classes quite often. I always try to persuade real beginners not to take the class, and I would like to explain why. This is part of an article by Olive Knits– you may want to read the entire article- it’s good.
Mistakes are the best teachers. Mistakes can and will help you improve your techniques. The more you try something, the better you’ll get – you can’t expect the first or second (or even third) try to be perfect.
Making mistakes will help you learn how to “read” your knitting. You’ll get more familiar with how stitches come together and what they should look like in different applications. Knowing what it ISN’T supposed to look like is often just as helpful as getting it right.
Mistakes mean you’re trying. Trying matters. It’s how we grow, build skills and gain confidence in our knitting.
So go ahead- make those mistakes! Then try to fix them- you might learn something in the process. And don’t worry, you can always come to us to help.
